Mission

Issues involving sexual orientation and identity in the workplace are among the most difficult managerial issues confronting companies today. These questions are often the decisive factors in the career decisions of lesbian and gay business students.

OutClass was founded in 1993 to address these issues and to help gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer students at Stern to understand and manage work place diversity concerns as they relate to their personal career objectives. The organization seeks to serve as a professional, educational and social forum for gay and lesbian students, alumni, faculty, administration and the broader NYU community.

OutClass is dedicated to:

  • Fostering awareness of lesbians and gays in the workplace and classroom.
  • Providing professional and social networks for students, alumni, faculty and staff.
  • Creating a supportive and safe intellectual environment for all LGBT persons at Stern.
  • Promoting diversity awareness by exploring LGBT issues relevant in the workplace.
  • Supporting professional opportunities for lesbian and gay students.
  • Offering a safe and private forum for students to explore professional options.
