Professor D'Souza will be explaining the basic workings of venture capital investing as it fits into alternative capital landscape. This event will start promptly at 5:00pm and will end at 5:50pm. Please arrive a few minutes early so as not to disrupt the presentation. Ian D’Souza joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance in September 2006. Professor D’Souza is currently Chief Investment Officer, Telecoms at Luminus Management LLC, a New York-based fund focusing on the utilities and communications sector. He was an Executive Director at Rothschild North America where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions and restructuring. He has also held significant management positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, including Head of Research in Australia. Throughout his 15-year finance career, Professor D’Souza has worked extensively in the telecommunications sector in Australia, Europe, Asia and the U.S. in various roles including representing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the NextWave bankruptcy, advising BT plc on its acquisition of InfoNet Inc., advising in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Telstra Corporation and participating in a myriad of venture capital raisings as well as investing across the capital structure in micro, mid and large cap public entities. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (national and state merit awards). Professor D’Souza holds a Masters degree in Applied Finance from Melbourne University, Australia, summa cum laude, a Bachelors degree in Information Systems from Monash University, Australia.
