Join a special Langone Stern Speaks celebrating Solidarity Week: NYU's commitment to helping all NYU community members deepen their understanding of - and empathy with - others, and raise awareness of our individual and collective societal challenges and injustices.

Stern Speaks provides an opportunity to get to know their classmates on a deeper level, as your fellow students share 10-15 min. stories about who they are, not just what they do.

Langoners Amanda Villarreal and Naoka Tsujimoto will share their experiences surrounding intersectional identities, allyship, and how we can all work to treat each other better at Stern - and beyond. **Happy hour to follow for those who attend in-person!**

About Amanda: Amanda Villarreal, an Austin, TX native, spent most of her time growing up between her now "hip" hometown and the Texas-Mexico border, where her large Mexican family's roots lie. Her life drastically changed when she moved over 2,000 miles away to attend Amherst College in Western Massachusetts. The liberal arts education led her to begin her career in psychology research and clinical service, the halls of Washington, D.C. in public policy, and eventually back home in Texas in electoral politics, before switching into Austin's then-burgeoning tech and startup scene. Since taking the leap to NYC years ago, she has made a career in human-centered design and corporate innovation, now, at Accenture. When not balancing the part-time MBA and work, you can find Amanda on long walks with her rescue dog, Paisley, enjoying skiing, yoga, and NYC's art and museum scene, and laughing with friends over margaritas ("you can take the girl out of Texas but…"). Amanda is a VP in LSG and involved with AHBBS, MCA, and PE/VC Club.

About Naoka: Born and bred in New York City, Naoka Tsujimoto knows to expect the unexpected, but Stern School of Business was one place she was not sure how to navigate. A sociology undergrad from CUNY Hunter with aspirations of being in social work, her plan took a turn as she experienced firsthand the mismatch between social service salary and NYC cost-of-living. While searching for a challenge, balance, and fulfillment Naoka worked in operations roles from large retail and retail banking, hospitality, tattoo salons and universities. A life-changing move to North Carolina kick-started her desire to explore new opportunities and a return to Brooklyn in 2017 inspired Naoka's pursuit of an M.B.A. Starting Langone in the Fall 2019, she previously occupied positions as AVP and VP of SISA's Langone vertical, and AVP of LSG's inaugural D&I vertical. When not at work or in KMC, Naoka hibernates in the winters, hikes in the spring and fall, and is on the beach all summer.
