February 14, 2024 NYU Stern Rugby Update
NYU Stern Rugby and Friends,
Hey all! It is a big week for NYU Stern Rugby as we travel up to New Haven this weekend (Saturday, February 17 2024) to scrimmage Columbia Business School and Yale Graduate Rugby. Let’s continue to spread the word and let’s continue to build numbers! It is an easy train ride on the Metro North. This will be very friendly and a way for people to shake off the rust. If you are interested in traveling to Yale on February 17, please join the matchday WhatsApp Group. More information concerning logistics will be discussed in there.
***As we continue to progress through the semester, we are on the lookout for new club officers to take over for next year. This is incredibly important for the longevity of the club. Specifically, we are looking for a new President and Treasurer. If interested, please contact Collum Magee or Matt Swanson.***
We are an inclusive group of rugby fans and players who seek to build friendships and comradery through the sport of rugby. For awareness, this club is hosted and predominantly organized by MBA students from Stern. Because of this, there are certain events that are MBA or graduate student specific. In addition to playing rugby, we are also big fans of watching the sports. It has been an amazing start to the Guinness Six Nations. As the tournament continues, we will look to host a watch party. Be on the lookout for a date!
Our first match is scheduled to be against Yale Graduate School. It will also be in New Haven, Connecticut. We are still working to solidify the date. The dates we are looking at are Saturday, March 2; Sunday, March 3; or Saturday, March 9. If interested, please join the matchday WhatsApp Group. Even if one of those dates does not work, please join, and communicate your availability in the group. It will help us confirm the best date!
Although you are more than welcome to come and see what the club is about, if you want to be a member of the club, we do ask that you officially join the club on Campus Groups and pay your club dues. Field permits (especially in New York City), equipment, club events are not cheap, and we rely on club dues to sustain us. You can join by clicking HERE.

Below you will see our tentative calendar of events. As we get confirmation of field permits for practices and dates for watch parties, scrimmages, and games, we will continuously update. Our practices will typically be Sunday nights. I apologize for the lack of confirmation of dates, but they are coming!!!
- Saturday, February 17: Joint scrimmage with Columbia and Yale in New Haven, Connecticut. If you are interested in traveling to Yale on February 17, please join the matchday WhatsApp Group.
- Sunday, February 18: This is our third training from 6:00-7:30 pm on Rooftop at Pier 40 Hudson Park. Because of the match on Saturday, this might turn into an informal session. The pitch will be open for us, so please take advantage if interested.
- Sunday, February 25: This is our fourth training from 6:00-7:30 pm on Rooftop at Pier 40 Hudson Park.
- Saturday, March 2; Sunday, March 3; Saturday, March 9: ***TENTATIVE*** Scrimmage against Yale Graduate School Rugby in New Haven, Connecticut. If interested, please join the matchday WhatsApp Group. Even if one of those dates does not work, please join and communicate your availability in the group. It will help us confirm the best date!
- Sunday, March 3: This is our fifth training from 6:00-7:30 pm on Rooftop at Pier 40 Hudson Park.
- Saturday, March 9: ***TENTATIVE*** Six Nations Watch Party
- Sunday, March 10: This is our sixth training from 6:00-7:30 pm on Rooftop at Pier 40 Hudson Park.
- Saturday, April 6: MBA Rugby World Cup hosted by Columbia Business School!
