Doing Business in (DBi)

DBi Progams are multi-day courses abroad, designed to help students strengthen their business skills in rapidly expanding global economy. They provide international experience, in-country expertise and contacts, and a new perspective on business in a different culture.

By taking a DBi class, students also have the option of lighter course load in the Fall or Spring semesters -- or they can combine it with Stern's Free Course policy.

The DBi Model

DBi Programs are one week (1.5 credits) or two week (3.0 credits) courses that take place both during (March, August) and outside of the semester timeframe (January, May, or during breaks). Classes include:

  • Local faculty lectures
  • Corporate visits
  • Government and business speakers
  • Cultural visits
  • A mandatory Pre-Departure class (with student panel)
  • An optional meet & greet happy hour (may be held on a different date than the Pre-Departure class).

Eligibility:

Academic Standing

Students must be in good academic standing and have no Code of Conduct violations.

Financial Standing

Students must have made all required tuition payments prior to enrollment. An additional course fee is associated with all DBi courses.

Core Requirements (Full-Time)

Full-Time MBA students who will be completing their core courses (excluding Professional Responsibility) before or during the semester of travel are eligible to participate in DBis.

Core Requirements (Langone)

Langone students are eligible to participate on a DBi in the same semester in which they are registered to complete their 15th credit, as long as it is not their first semester at NYU Stern.
