Social Impact Internship Fund

Enabling Stern students to use business skills to create social impact.

NYU Stern and the Stern Social Enterprise Association have created the Social Impact Internship Fund (SIIF) to support first-year MBA students who wish to complete their summer internships with non-profits and for-profit social enterprises. Recognizing that internships in the space are often unpaid or underfunded, the goal of the SIIF is to support students committed to a career in social enterprise and to help them apply business skills to create social impact.

SIIF was established in 2008 through the generous donation of Stern alumni to fund two fellows for the next five years. Through the support of current students, SEA and New York Initiatives, the number of fellows increased to 7 in 2010. This year, the fund will support 12 students. Your donation will count towards this year’s goal of raising $10,000, the amount that will fund the summer of one fellow. Your support will increase awareness on the fund, and will ultimately provide a convincing argument for sponsors and alumni to endow this fund in the future.

The impact of the fund extends beyond the students, into the organizations that have benefited from the work of a SIIF fellow. Examples of these SIIF social enterprises include:
