Details
Jim currently runs a small investment partnership that he launched in October 2015. The fund focuses on deep value investment opportunities in developed countries such as the U.S., U.K, Canada, Japan, and Australia. Prior to starting a fund, he spent eight years on the sell side in equity research with small/midsize firms. In his first four years, he assisted in covering a wide variety of over 35 names in the Defense and Technology sectors at Morgan Joseph, a small investment bank, and eventually moved on to FBR Capital Markets, a mid-size investment bank, where he covered over 20 names in the Software space (e.g., MSFT, ORCL, SAP, VMW, DATA, SPLK, etc.). In what free time he had, Jim immersed himself into the study of deep value investing and experimented with different value investing approaches, ultimately culminating into the launch of his fund. Jim graduated from the University of Waterloo (Canada) with a B.A. in Economics, and has an M.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California (USC).
Jim will discuss life on the sell-side, making the transition to the buy-side, and then a high level discussion about starting a fund. Q&A will follow.
