Speakers Panels & Workshops
Each year, the club assembles leading practitioners across a wide range of industries to share their knowledge and skills with regard to social impact and sustainability. Learn about industries, trends, companies, and roles across our club’s programming. All panels and workshops are followed by Q&A so feel free to bring your questions. Examples of SISA programming include: Executives-in-Residence Speaker Series, skills-based workshops, industry speaker panels and student/ alumni panels.

Career Development
SISA’s Career Development program focuses on providing students with informational, educational, and mentoring sessions to better prepare them for recruiting and a career in social impact. Members will have access to interview resources and be guided on how to navigate an unstructured recruiting process.

Every year, students from NYU's Policy, Law, and Business schools host our Social Innovation Symposium centered around creating social impact. We bring speakers from a diverse array of industries, countries, and backgrounds to inspire new generations of change-makers. Past keynote speakers included: Hannah Jones, Chief Sustainability Officer and VP of Innovation Accelerator, and Rick Ridgeway, Vice President of Public Engagement at Patagonia and founding chairman of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.

This past year’s theme, Social Intrapreneurship: Transforming Business from Within, considers how success in business, from local to transnational and from social enterprise to Fortune 500, requires social innovation. This goes far beyond corporate social responsibility departments and requires that organizations create a culture of creativity that unites all teams around both financial and impact goals.  Through a series of panels, workshops, and roundtables, trailblazers will lead discussions on how each functional role (e.g., operations, marketing, legal etc.) in an organization can drive social innovation, how to maximize innovation to add value to business and society, and what this means for individuals looking to make an impact and be competitive in the ever-changing business landscape.

Please join us for our next conference in Spring of 2020!

Case Competitions
Each year SISA encourages members to participate in a variety of case competitions hosted by various companies and universities.  These competitions provide valuable hands-on exposure to real social impact and sustainability challenges that an organization is facing. The competitions serve as great learning experiences and some even offer monetary rewards for winning.

A team of MBA students from the NYU Stern School of Business took top place in The Aspen Institute’s 2018 Business & Society International MBA Case Competition. Stern’s top finish complements its additional success in the 2018 Patagonia Case Competition, where a team of Stern and NYU Wagner students received honorable mention for social empowerment out of a total of 10 finalist teams.

Be part of one of the most engaged and passionate groups at Stern! Joining SISA is a great way to connect with a diverse group of students, alumni, and industry professionals with like-minded interests.
