Director for Community Economic Development at the Thai Community Development Center

 

Thai Community Development Center, also known as Thai CDC, a non-profit community development corporation engaging in housing and economic development, as well as community planning and advocacy, is looking to fill its senior-level position of Program Director for Community Economic Development. Thai CDC is looking for candidates who are passionate advocates for social and economic justice and have experience in creating and managing affordable housing, small business and neighborhood development programs as well as background in community development and advocacy. The Program Director must be bilingual in Thai and English because much of the work is with the Thai speaking community and will need to represent Thai CDC in both English and Thai speaking media. As Program Director, you will lead a passionate and hardworking team in the challenging, but rewarding, front lines of community development.

Job Description Summary:

The Director for Community Economic Development (CED) implements the community economic development strategies of the agency. This is a senior-level position that requires vision, staff supervision, project management, financial analysis as well as resource development. The Director for CED will be called upon to provide leadership in defining and implementing the community economic development strategy of Thai CDC including creation of new enterprises that provide jobs to the community and equity for Thai CDC, development of affordable housing units, maintaining and enhancing the small business program, and overseeing neighborhood development activities. The Director for CED reports to the Executive Director.

Policy Analyst Opportunity at the NYC Office of the Mayor

 

The Policy Analyst position will be located within the Mayor’s Office of Operations. The Analyst will serve as technical and analytical support to Policy Advisors who are responsible for coordinating interagency efforts and assist with agency-specific issues to streamline operations and encourage collaboration (where appropriate). Additionally, each Analyst may also be responsible for one or more discreet projects and be expected to manage the project(s) to completion.

 

Initiatives include, but are not limited to: (a) new strategies for information sharing, such as introducing technological systems/databases that create greater efficiency and common data pools, (b) connecting agencies with overlapping functions to ensure the most effective use of resources and consistent outcomes, (c) analyzing agency operations to identify and, when appropriate, implement operational efficiencies (d) working with agencies to enhance customer service to New York City residents and businesses.

 

Job Responsibilities for the Policy Analyst include, but are not limited to:

 

• Providing analytical assistance to team members, including quantitative and qualitative data analysis, the evaluation of best practices, and the identification and assessment of operational improvement opportunities at different agencies.

 

• Providing project management assistance, including developing and maintaining project plans and other documents, managing and coordinating project elements, reviewing agency and interagency work products, and ensuring efficient progress on implementation.

The Buttonwood Gathering: Fixing Finance on October 25-26


As markets worldwide struggle to recover from the worst fi nancial crisis in decades, Wall Street is fi nding its footing under new fi nancial regulations and looking to maintain its status as the world’s fi nancial capital.

Net Neutrality: The Law and Economics of Regulation

A policy that has been garnering headlines, net neutrality is viewed by some as essential to the functioning of the Internet. But what exactly are the implications of foregoing such a policy? Our panel will discuss the recent Comcast v. FCC decision, which limited the government's power to regulate Internet Service Providers, and the practical effects of net neutrality from the perspectives of both economic theory and business reality.
