Our Mission

The Stern Investment Management and Research Club (SIMR) is committed to developing the next generation of investment professionals by providing NYU Stern MBA students with the skills, knowledge, and network to succeed in investment management. Through hands-on training, practical workshops, competitions, and direct engagement with leading firms, we bridge the gap between academic excellence and real-world investing. Our mission is to empower members with the expertise and experience to drive meaningful impact in buy-side and sell-side research, wealth management, and broader investment functions.

Who We Are

SIMR is a dynamic community of Stern MBA students engaged in the academic and professional investment management community. Many SIMR members go on to build long, successful careers in investment management, with several also contributing to the Michael Price Student Investment Fund during their time at Stern.

Where We Work

SIMR members frequently pursue careers across investment management, from buy-side research at mutual funds, hedge funds, and distressed investing firms, to sell-side research at investment banks and brokerage firms. Many also build careers in private wealth management while others thrive in sales and trading, or operations.

Where Do We Fit At Stern

SIMR distinguishes itself from Stern's other finance clubs by operating at the intersection of buy-side and sell-side within public markets and investment management, whereas the Graduate Finance Association (Investment Banking, M&A and IPO Advisory) and the PEVC Club (Private Equity and Venture Capital primarily engage with private markets.
